What should my return be?
I backed Johnson Wagner at the Quicken Loans PGA Golf, £20 E/W at 250/1 with Coral who were paying 7 places at 1/5 of the odds

He ended up coming tied 5th, but tied with 7 other players...

So do I get 3/8ths of a full payout, plus my stake?

e.g 250 / 5 = 50/1
50/1 X £20 = £1,000
£1,000 / 8 X 3 = £375
Plus my £20 stake = £375?

I have little faith that the bird in the shop will be able to work it out correctly so I wanted to make sure I'm right before I go in there.

Havent you died of aids yet prancer?

You're a fucking irrelevant little nobody, living in some hovel on the other side of the world.

The fact you are even allowed to post on the same website as the rest of us is quite offensive.

Now fuck off and stop stalking me.

Silly sod, the people in the shops don't work out what the returns should be, it's not 1984 ;o)

Re: What should my return be?
Happy that seems little! I would have thought 5th 6 th 7 th is three places and then the next place after 5th is 13th place due to the ties so there are 8 places paid instead of three, hence the O.P is correct 3/8 of 1000, No?

Re: What should my return be?
I didn't think it mattered whether he was tied 5th or 5th on his own, I assumed you still get 1/5 of the odds?

Re: What should my return be?
If there's a dead heat, as harsh as it seems, they split your stake between how many people tied. Therefore you'd have a 7th of your £20 at 50/1.

It does make sense because they can't just pay out on everyone else otherwise they'd be skint. A harsh rule though but it works out at about £142.86 I think.

Re: What should my return be?
Sorry, if there were 8 tied for 5th then that would split it by 8 so the return would be £125 I think.

pagey's right, stake split by the number tied x 20

Re: What should my return be?
Pagey and Miike , even though they were paying 7 SEVEN places originally? I thought what you are saying only applied on the last place paid like 5th of 5 and the fact that there are seven places being paid would change this.

Takashi Miike 5:46 Mon Jul 3
Re: What should my return be?
yes, cheers Sam. take two out of the fifth place finishers to take up 5&6 in the pay out calculations and instead divide the £20 by the remaining six, which works out to £170 exactly :.)

Correct Sam. REad OP post too quick, thought he was 1 of 7 tied for 7th not 5th, so return higher.

Andy, £20 ew is a lot on a 250/1 shot, you sure it wasn't £2 ew? :)

I didn't read it properly either and missed that it went down to 7 places. Now my head hurts!

Re: What should my return be?
Am I getting this right?
First place player on his own
second place player on his own
Third place player on his own
Forth place player on his own
Fifth place player tied with 7 others so 8 players were fifth.
They should pay out e/w for 11 players so you should get back £1,025 surely.

Takashi Miike 6:25 Mon Jul 3
Re: What should my return be?
no, there are 7 allocated place pay outs, 7th place if there are no ties. with 8 tieing for 5th there were 12 places instead of 7, so the extra five dead heat with Andy's selection and those 6 are then divided in to his stake. then you times that by 50 and add the 20÷6
